Where to Stay in Bangkok for Muay Thai Training

Finding a place to stay in Bangkok is easy, as it’s one of the most visited cities in the world. The capital of Thailand is home to a wide variety of hotels, but what if you’re here specifically for Muay Thai training? Finding the right place to stay can be a bit trickier.

The ideal accommodation depends on your goals and what you’re looking to get out of your time in Bangkok.

Popular Areas in Bangkok for Travelers

  • Sukhumvit Road: This is the busiest and best-connected area in the city. However, it’s not the best for Muay Thai training. The gyms here tend to be more touristy and expensive. If you want nightlife and easy access to the city, Sukhumvit may be the place for you.

  • Silom Road: Located near the river, Silom offers many attractions, though the traffic can be a nightmare. If you’re in this area, don’t miss visiting Asiatique, a popular night market and shopping destination.

  • Khaosan Road: This area is a backpacker’s haven. It’s affordable and lively but can feel very touristy after a few days. If you stay here, make sure to check out the famous Rajadamnern Stadium nearby.

  • Local Neighborhoods: For a more peaceful environment, consider staying in a local area not far from the city center. These neighborhoods offer a more authentic experience and are closer to many Muay Thai gyms.

The Best Accommodation for Muay Thai Training

If your main focus is Muay Thai training, the best option is to stay close to your gym. Bangkok’s traffic and the city’s heat make long commutes a challenge. Four or five kilometers can feel like a huge distance in Bangkok, and walking can be difficult and even unsafe in some areas.

Why Staying Close to Your Gym is a Great Idea

  • Save time: Morning training sessions start early. Staying nearby means you won’t waste valuable time commuting.

  • Avoid the heat: The streets can get scorching in the afternoon, making it tiring to get up and walk/ride to the gym. Living nearby makes it much easier.

  • Comfort: Many gyms lack proper facilities, including clean showers and ventilation. At Khongsittha Muay Thai, we offer showers with hot water and comfortable bedding.

  • Community: Being close to the gym allows you to bond with other fighters and enthusiasts, making your Muay Thai journey even more enjoyable.

Comfortable Accommodation at Khongsittha

While many gyms offer basic or subpar accommodations, Khongsittha strives to provide a more comfortable experience.

Our resort, Kiatthada House & Resort, is just a short stroll from the gym and is designed to offer a premium stay.

Why settle for old studio apartments with broken showers when you can enjoy a relaxing, resort-style environment? Oh, and did we mention all students have a private room!

About Kiatthada House & Resort

Kiatthada House & Resort is located in Lad Phrao, a quiet local area of Bangkok that offers an authentic taste of Thai life. There are many restaurants, local bars, and hangout spots to explore.

The popular Central Festival Eastville Mall is about a 5-7 minute Grab bike ride away. Here, you can shop, catch a movie, or exchange money. The mall is pet-friendly, so expect to see a variety of dogs around. In addition, Central Ladprao Mall is less than 15 minutes by Grab bike and features popular department stores, sports shops, and a vast food court.

If you need to visit the city center, there are a few options, including Grab Car or Grab Bike, the BTS Skytrain from Central Lad Phrao, or the underground metro MRT from Lat Phrao Station. Depending on traffic conditions, the commute can take 25 minutes to 1 hour.
